How do you respond to challenges with seasoned faculty?

Please edit and add to this list.
Participants attending the meeting at Bow Valley College were interviewed and here's what they suggest:
  • allow them to be heard
  • acknowledge their resistence
  • "play down" negative
  • addressing subtleties in classroom (i.e. body language)
  • ask directly if they are ready to receive feedback in Mini-lesson cycle
  • they set goals - remind them of their goals - ownership of learning
  • challenge them to share what they know
  • challenge them:
    • new domain
    • higher level objective
    • new instructional technique
  • explore why they are there
  • ensure they have strategies to their expressed issues - address their burning question
  • hold "viewpoints" until the end
  • create another program for "seasoned" instructors
  • be clear on what ISW is and give opt out option (when they arrive or when they inquire / register)
  • acknowledge expertise / their experience
  • ensure administrators are supportive of ISW ... thus advocating
  • private chat / venting
  • parking lot activity
  • encourage leaders NOT to send faculty to an ISW as a remediation strategy.
